Your Administrator has prohibited access to your CD/DVD ROM drives

Introduction :

First technical post of 2009 !

Got a call from a friend, he was trying to help out his cousin with his PC but while using it notice that the CDROM/DVDROM and USB was disable. It prompt out a pop-up error window titled “Restriction Warning” with the message: “Your Administrator has prohibited access to your CD/DVD ROM drives“. At first I jump into the conclusion that a virus might have disable via regitry, then further research has lead me to the culprit.

AVocent AdminWorks

AVocent AdminWorks was part of the Intel Desktop Utilities. After un-installing the application and rebooted, everything working fine :)
