Upgrade FireFox on Ubuntu
Introduction :
Hotmail recently upgraded their interface and I haven’t login for awhile found myself unable to type anything in as the Wysiwyg editor was disabled. This meant that I needed an upgrade for my FireFox. Kudos to the team that coded this great Phyton script called “Ubuntuzilla” that automatically does everything for you.
A python script that allows the user to install the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla SeaMonkey, and Mozilla Thunderbird on Ubuntu Linux, with minimal disturbance to the system.
Enviroment :
Ubuntu 7.10
Firefox 3.0.3
Installation / Usage :
1. Download Ubuntuzilla from [LINK]
2. Double click or install it from the software manager
3. Open a terminal and type in
?ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p firefox
* Remember close all FireFox windows !
4. Let the script work its magic.
5. It will periodically ask for authorization and password.
6. After everything is almost done, you get prompt about the automatic update checking thingie.
!!! Right after upgrade I notice the Adobe Flash plugin was not working.
- Copy libflashplayer.so from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/
