Suspend Telnet sessions

Introduction :
Frequently network engineer need to login devices and check on neighbouring device in the same time. If you are like me, I can’t seem to remember their names. But my collegue showed me a reverse telnet key sequence which is a life saver. This proof old dog can learn new tricks :)

Enviroment :
Cisco devices

Installation / Usage :
1. Telnet to the device.
2. Optionally show cdp neighbors to find the device.
3. Telnet to that device from the current location.
4. After login in perform the escape key sequence

escape sequence Ctrl-Shift-6 x (press Control-Shift-6, let go, then press x)

5. You will find that you are back at the device before this.
6. Enter the where EXEC command to check for open sessions

router# where

Conn Host??????????????? Address???????????? Byte? Idle Conn Name
*? 1 172.16.1.10???????? 172.16.1.10??????????? 0???? 0? 172.16.1.10
2 172.16.1.11???????? 172.16.1.11??????????? 0??? 12? modem2

7. Enter the session no# to go back to the device.
