Install WINE under Ubuntu

Introduction :
While under Linux you can do almost everything but there is still stuff that must work with Microsoft technologies. For that we have WINE to the rescue, but do keep in mind that not every application would work due the dependencies.

Enviroment :
Ubuntu 7.10

Dependencies :
Wine

Installation / Usage :

1. Open a root terminal.

#sudo -i

2. Add the repository’s key to your system’s list of trusted APT keys :

#wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -

3. Add the repository to your system’s list of APT sources:

#wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/gutsy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list

4. Update APT’s package information by running

#sudo apt-get update

5. If you are using Ubuntu, paste this into your web browser

apt://wine

OR

you can install by going to Applications > Add/Remove and searching for Wine.

OR

#sudo apt-get install wine
