Ubuntu configuring the Apt 82% scanning the mirror error

Error message :
Configuring the Apt 82% scanning the mirror

Enviroment :
VMware? Workstation 6.0.3
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

While installing the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop edition on my VMware, I encounter an halting error which just show progress bar with the message “Configuring the Apt 82% scanning the mirror”.

Firstly I thought it was an VMware issue that didn’t support Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. But second time round the same issue occured.

After researching this was not an error, rather it was a sympton that happens when the package manager is trying to reach an overloaded server.

I remedy the issue by disabling the virtual network card and it proceed with it installation :)
