Installing Recovery Console in Windows XP
Introduction :
After the previous recovery of Windows XP from the “UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME” Blue Screen Of Death. I realized that I should install the Recovery Console just in case I don’t have the Installation CD around.
Before trying to recover the system using the recover console, it is suggested to try Safe mode and other startup options. After the installation of the Recovery Console, it is accessible as a startup option on the the startup menu during system bootup.
Enviroment :
Microsoft Windows XP service pack 2
Installation / Usage :
!! You have to have the Windows XP installation CD
!! You must be an administrator to use the Recovery Console
To install the Recovery Console while in Windows XP, follow these steps:
1.Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2.Click Start, and then click Run.
3.In the Open box, type d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons where d is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.
4.A Windows Setup Dialog Box appears. The Windows Setup Dialog Box describes the Recovery Console option. To confirm the installation, click Yes.
5.Restart the computer. The next time that you start your computer, “Microsoft Windows Recovery Console” appears on the startup menu.
